Haiku Friday

Haiku Friday: Potty Talk

We aren't at that point
We will be there soon enough
Then more money saved
J isn't at the point of potty training yet. Soon enough though. 20 months and he knows when he's got a full diaper ;)

Now I need to go
Will there ever be a time
I can go alone
If you are a mother, or father of a toddler, you know this all too well. I'm not sure of the last time I actually went to the bathroom by myself. There will be a day again...I'm sure of it.

Off to the potty
Can we make it there in time
A prize if you go
When I was potty training my oldest, all he ever wanted was the prize if he was successful. Stickers, a new little $1 store toy, something to get him to go. We will do this again....all over again, 17 years later.

To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:

1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What's a haiku, you ask? Click here.

2. Sign the Mister Linky below or at Jennifer's blog with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your generic blog URL). DON'T sign unless you have a haiku this week. If you need help with this, contact Jennifer or myself.

3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button at the top.

REMEMBER: Do not post your link unless you have a haiku this week! We will delete any links without haiku!

Shameless Plug

On May 1 I was faced with the unthinkable....unemployment. Sucks, really, it does. At first it was like a well needed vacation. Hell, I could gather to take a few weeks off. I had enough freelance work coming in that taking that time off was worth it.

Now reality hits. Uncle Same was so kind as to send that wonderful stimulus. Gone, rent paid. Groceries to feed the mouths of my hungry children. You know you have to feed them too? So here I sit. A laptop full of designs for invitations, announcements, web banners and graphics. But there is one problem....clients.

So I'm asking for the best thing out there...word of mouth. You can see designs and samples here. Ordering can be done on eBay or through the site via PayPal. Right now in June, if you order at least 25, you get 5 of those free.

Spread the word, get it out there for me *begging* please???

Yes child...I will let you color on the walls

When we moved into this house, what would be J's room was purple. A deep lovely shade of purple. This is the color purple that would of taken 5 coats of primer to cover. I really don't have that kind of energy...really.

See...and that picture gives it no justice. Really it doesn't.

Photobucket

So for 8 months now, I've been trying to figure out what in the world I'm going to do with his room. He's getting into coloring. His MagnaDoodle is his best friend. Damn! That's it. Chalkboard paint!

So off to Home Depot we go this morning. All at the same time, Mother Nature decides that she's going to make this the rainiest weekend we've had in a year. Thanks! Find the paint and realize that you can now tint it. I'm in my glory. Sitting there with an antsy toddler trying to figure out what is going to go with purple. Ummm blue? Sure it will.

So here we are.....we now have one wall as a giant easel for him to create his masterpiece. Excuse the crappy paint job...I will say the only thing that I was disappointed in was the can says it will cover 90-130 sq ft....NO! This wall is about 40+/- sq ft and it needed 2 coats. You can tell where it needs to be touched up.

If the chalk doesn't come off with just a swipe of a rag...damp it a bit and bam! All clean.

Next weekends project....figuring out if I want to do the rest of the walls or leave it. I am going to add a chair rail between the purple and blue. I'm thinking about a primary green as the color of that.

Since they are in the screen
Even drink with me

Blogger is one more
Visits came from worldwide

Need to link Stumble
Not that internet savvy
Need more visitors

(so if you can tell me how to do this, that would be great)

Ahhh my internet addiction. Since I've been at home since May, seems that the laptop is always open now. Now it even sits on the kitchen table. You know, that table that you are supposed to eat dinner at? Yeah, that one. Now mine has become my mobile office. Not so mobile but it mobilized from the desk.

Every morning it's a routine now. Head to MySpace, then eBay, then WordPress, off to Tampa Racing to see what photos the guys have taken and then to my home away from home...MommyMatter. I will have to say though, I've formed some great friendships there that I wouldn't give up for the world. =)

Join in the Haiku fun. Visit here or here for more Haiku's. Don't forget to sign Mr. Linky but only if you've posted your Haiku's for today.

Happy Friday All!

Never underestimate the power of a steam cleaner
At least I won't anymore.

You ever just clean and you are disgusted by what you clean? That has happened to me all day today.
I splurged and bought a SteamMax Steam Cleaner. WalMart had a great deal on them...don't they have great deals on everything?

Anyways, I've had it for 3 days now. Sat there, looked at it in the box, wondering if it was really it was all it's cracked up to be. I will have to say, that it is all that AND a bag of chips. For 5 hours now I've been bent over, yeah there's accessories but who needs 'em, I wanted to see my floor get clean. Let's just say that I have seen it now. I couldn't believe the dirt that was coming up from my grout. Probably shouldn't be something that I brag about but now it's clean. Spotless. Sparkly clean.

See.....

I even got a wild hair and was going to do the stove. Sure did.

Look at that before and after? I am still in awe. Wanting someone to come over to see my clean house. I'm very proud of myself. I'm not a cleaning type person...but when I want to clean, by golly I will.

A little late on Father's Day...but I'm never on time

On time? What's that? Nevah. Anyways...lets get to the point here, Fathers Day. Crept up on me like...well ya' know. This year I didn't get to spend it with my dad like I wanted to but there is a damn good reason for it. Right now, he's in Honduras with the Northwest Tampa Church of Christ doing their annual mission trip. I praise him tremendously for this. My Dad is 60 out there with these young whipper snappers building houses for the locals. It's not just a house, its their 4 walls and a floor. That's it. 12 x 12. My dad is moving rocks, digging posts right along with everyone else.

My Dad has the biggest heart I think of anyone that I've ever met. He's kind, considerate, patient (he has to be with a daughter like me), loving...hell there aren't enough words to describe him. He's been right by my side through so much, never backing down, never a negative word. He's watched both his grandsons come into this world and take their first breath. He was the first to hold his oldest grandson, and the one to be the biggest influence in his life.

He's never let me down. He's been there for me through every thing and for that Dad...I love you =) I wish all of you the best in Honduras, come home safe and we'll be waiting *kisses and hugs*

If you want to check out their mission trip over the next 2 weeks, you can go to their blog, Honduras Mission Trip. They try to update it every couple of days.
