Another networking site...just what I need

How many sites can one person keep up with before she's hugging herself forever? Well let's count them. My MySpace, Mommy Matter, Tree Frog Customs, Tree Frog's MySpace, my original design site, my son's photography blog, CafeMom (which I will say is there purely for entertainment purposes only), my Craig's List ads and here. So should we add one more for to see how long I'm begging for the hugging jacket to be overnighted? Sure.

Judith, love her dearly, told me to PLURK her. Huh? You want me to do what? Plurk you? Well, I'm really not that way but you know I had to try it. I will have to say, I now hold that secret grudge against her for making me do it. And yes, she made me.

So to all my readers....PLURK you! This is my final warning. It's a little odd at first but oddly cool at the same time. You get sucked in, and quick.

Now this has really cut into my Plurking time, so I have to go. See you there :)

Week in Review

A friend of mine, Jewels, reminded me last night that she Haiku'd yesterday and it got me thinking that I hadn't blogged in a week. Life has just gotten in the way and I really think my head spun like Linda Blair.

Let's see...what's been going on. Last Saturday a good friend of mine threw be a birthday surprise party. Some
thing that was just supposed to be me, the kids and her family turned into everyone. Nothing like showing up to a formal affair wearing your semi-formal attire. It was all good though. We ate, drank, swam and had a great time. Even J did. He tried crawfish for the first time. Kind of forgot that you have to take off the shell. I didn't forget...he wouldn't let me. He was having too much fun sucking all the juices off the shell. Ewwww.

Moving on
to the oldest. Well he's just a teenager. Wednesday he wanted to take mom out on the boat so bad for my birthday. That was it...spend a day just us, without the baby. Everything and anything yet wrong. It was actually kind of funny but he's got that male attitude where the world is going to come to an end if nothing goes right...yeah that one ;) It was all good as far as I was concerned. I was on the water, getting sun, not having to deal with anything but he was screaming, yelling, ranting and raving like that was going to make the motor start. Needless to say....this is how the day ended.

Bah....tan lines were made regardless of how it happened. And here in Florida...that's a good thing.

Moving on to me. I finally got off my tush and got the site up and running. I feel
so cool to have a part of the web. I really own something now. It's strange to have that feeling that people are watching what you are doing, what you come up with next. I kind of like it :) I know that it's not going to make me millions right now...but hey, ya' never know what the future might hold. I'd be happy if it made the hosting payment right now :)

So that's about life in a nutshell. After this weekend I will be back, up and running, like a bad rerun of Friends.

Until then....everyone have a great weekend!

Haiku Friday

haiku button

Since our faithful Haiku theme leaders are out getting drunk at Blogher (teehee) we are on our own this week. No theme...so take it by the seat of your pants and let 'er rip.

No 'ku theme this week
I feel like I'm a bit lost
Means I need to think

All are getting drunk
San Fran got invaded by
BlogHer crazy girls
(thought that one was fitting)

I hope to stand out
From the millions on the web
Tell me what you think

I just have to add in here that my blog is PMS'ing today. Those 'ku's are all the same size when I edit them. I have no idea why they are coming out different sizes. *Sigh* One more thing to fix when the youngin' goes to school.

To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:

1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What's a haiku, you ask? Click here.

2. Leave a comment below. You can see more Haiku's at Jennifer's blog or Chistina's blog. DON'T sign unless you have a haiku this week. If you need help with this, contact any one of us.

3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button at the top.

REMEMBER: Do not post your link unless you have a haiku this week! We will delete any links without haiku!

Happy Friday all!

A word to Mother Nature

You just knew didn't you? You knew that this week was the week that J was starting 3 days a week at the daycare instead of full time? Do you really think that a full day of thunderstorms is something that I want to deal with? A toddler, locked in the house all day telling the rain "go way" is really not my idea of fun.

I had it all planned out last night. We were going to have a day at the beach since it's not so crowded during the week, we were going to run in the sand, play in the water but no. You had to let it all loose this morning about 4am and you haven't stopped yet.

I would like to thank you Ma' Nature for ruining my day. I know just to bite me in the ass, you will make it an absolutely beautiful day tomorrow when J goes back to school.

Mass emails...Do you ignore them?

I constantly get the mass emails. FWD: this is the best picture ever, FWD: the prayer will save your life, or FWD: send this to 10 friends. Over and over in the inbox. Friday was no exception. Mom send me one title FWD: Mosquito Spray...Worth a try. Mmmmk, I'll see what it says.

We have been attacked by the killer mosquitoes the last 3-4 weeks here. They are taking over the backyard and I'm not happy about it. The other morning J went outside to get his truck and BAM, 2 bites on his thigh. I mean seriously bugs, can't you find another yard to infest? The fish in the pond are no help. I guess when you feed your fish on a regular basis, they won't eat the larva of the skeeter. Hmph, learn some thing new every day.

So on to the e-mail. Mom sends me the before mentioned e-mail. I start reading it and I see
this picture. Seriously? You want my skeeters to have fresh breath? All while fighting plaque and gingivitis? Ummm sure ya' do.

After being outside for less than 10 minutes later on that night, getting bit another 400 times, it was time to give the skeeters fresh breath. What would it hurt? I grab a spray bottle, fill it and do as instructed by the e-mail. Holy carp (yes, carp)! Within 5-10 minutes there wasn't a little vermin in sight.

J was able to play outside for at least another 30-45 minutes, I watered all the flowers (then Mother Nature watered them again an hour later) and all bite free. I couldn't believe it.

So there is your PSA for the weekend. So maybe I'll scan those unwanted e-mails from now on before I automatically send them to the trash bin.

Seventeen....UGH

Seventeen......

What a wonderful age....NOT! Why is it when I was 17 things weren't so complicated. School was school, no questions asked. Girlfriends/boyfriends were nice, cute, liked your mom type of of kids. I'm really starting to not like this age, really.

The boy has been 17 for 6 months now. You know what? He's learned everything about life in that 6 months. He knows it all. I was born the day I gave birth to him and never once in my life experienced anything. He knows how to deal with girls, he knows what he needs to do in school but yet we won't discuss the last report card :) His mind is set on what he wants to do, when he wants to do it. He's already growing into the "male". Won't do anything unless he's specifically told. Yep, he's preparing for marriage.

So I try and sit back and think....where did I go wrong? What did I do to deserve this. Then it all hits me. The mother curse. Remember back when and your mother said to you "When you grow up, I hope you have kids just like you." Well it's happened. Back then I didn't think I was doing it to my mother, but now I realize...I did. Gives me a new found appreciation for my mom. God love her.

Now, can anyone point me to the website that will overnight straight jackets? Thanks. Because in 15 years, I have to do it all again. UGH!

Should you force 'em?

Dealing with an absent parent

I was cruising through a "mom" site this morning and came across this post about mother that had an absent parent, sperm donor if you wish, and how she was contacting his parents about being involved in her daughters life. It got me thinking about my own situation with the oldest. His sperm donor hasn't been a part of his life since I told him I was pregnant 18 years ago now. So should you contact the grandparents? Here's how I look at it.

Like I said, sperm donor walked away the day I told him I was pregnant. I was 17, he was 19 and neither one of us should of been raising a child together. So it was either we stay together and I end up in jail, or I deal with the fact that he was going to walk away and never look back. I chose the ladder. I had a wonderful support system with my family and friends therefore knowing that I could make it. Times did cross my mind about contacting his mother but then I thought to myself, why? She knew I was pregnant, she knew that he could find me, so why should I bother forcing a relationship with her first grandchild? It wasn't worth all the pain (emotionally) that I would have put myself through.

Why should you force a relationship with the grandparents if they don't want one? Why put yourself through all that. My oldest has grown up to know how his sperm donor feels. I have never talked ill about him, never said what has really been on my mind about it, and I've always been nice when he's asked about him. He recently got the opportunity to meet him face to face. 15 minutes...that was it. That was a year and a half ago and SD never looked back once again. Every ounce of energy in my body wanted to call him and become George Carlin in every word that I knew, but the more I thought about it, the better off I knew we were and are without him.

So just reading this mom's post, don't force it. Like so many other things in life, you can't change someone. You can't change how they feel. And you definitely are going to make them have a relationship that they don't want to have.

Wordless Wednesday

shh ww

Along with today's edition of WW, I had to make a little comment. We recently went to South Carolina to watch my youngest cousin graduate high school. Scary because it only made me realize that will be me dealing with a graduate next year. But along with that, I had a new appriciation for my grandparents. They are both in their 80's and when I was younger, I had them around me all the time. Grandma watched me after school, I would help Grandpa in the garden, he'd yell at me when I'd pick the cherry tomatoes and eat them right then and there and I'd help shuck the corn sitting on the back porch.

J doesn't have that with his great-grandparents. Because of schedules, life, school and everything else that gets thrown at you, he has only met then 4 times in his short time here. I treasure these moments that my grandparents have with him.

Here...by popular demand

On my normal internet home, Mommy Matter, I wrote about the lovely animals that I have invading my pond. Well, by popular demand, I am bringing it here for the world to see. So without further ado...I bring you...

FROGGY PORN

Last night I decided to take the laptop on the back porch, drink my iced tea and surf the net. Get everything together and head out there. Within 2 minutes I hear this ungodly noise. I mean a screeching that is just indescribable. Of course, no one was home. J was in bed and here I am sitting there, by myself with whatever is making this noise.

So what do I do. I call Jewels. Jewels answer the phone
. "OMG Jewels...listen to this." I put the phone on speaker and the screeching begins. Next thing I know, Jewels is laughing uncontrollably. Yea, thanks for the encouragement that nothing is going to come out of the dark depths of my yard and eat me. Next thing I know, she's got me on speaker phone so her sister can hear my "friends". Now both of them are laughing at me. So with Jewels on the phone...we go hunting together.

Now if y'all remember when we tore up the small pond and put the bigger one in, we had a little friend. Well, he wasn't little, he was pretty big but here I am assuming that is what it's going to be. So I grab the solar spotlight and start looking. Nothing. Moving plants around...nothing. Can't find a damn frog anywhere. I head back to the porch. No more than I sit down and he starts with the calls again only this time....there is a different tone. We now have a high pitched croak and a low pitched croak. OMG he's multiplying right here...in my pond!
What do I do....go grab the camera and Jewels comes with me on my frog hunt once again. Only this time...success! Here is my little friend that has been making babies in m
y pond.

See his little throat all poofed up? I tried like hell to get the shot when he was all poofed but when I was too close he wouldn't croak. Just like a damn man. And now his girlfriend....

So here I am for at least 1/2 hour spying on the frogs. Then all of a sudden he lunges at her and tries to jump on her. "OMG Jewels (yes, she was still on the phone) I've got them fornicating in my pond!" I couldn't get the camera at them fast enough. She wasn't having it though. She dropped him like a hot potato.

They proceeded to make their little mating calls until at least midnight. Mind you all of this started about 9:30. I laid in bed just listening through a sliding glass door, down at least 20 feet, through my bedroom to my ears.

What great music to fall asleep to.
